The oldest and most important Bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhist literature is Manjushri (Manjushree). The Prajnaparamita Sutra, an early Mahayana scripture, described Manjushree as the personification of complete wisdom. Vimala, one of the two best pure lands that existed in the past, present, and future, was suggested to him by the Lotus Sutra. Manjushree is highly revered and exalted as a Meditational Deity and is regarded as a fully knowledgeable Bodhisattva. Manjushree is frequently depicted sitting on a lion's hide or riding on a blue lion in art exhibits. This represents the release of wisdom to control the mind, which is comparable to riding or taming a ferocious lion.
